Bio

Born in the North Rupununi village of Annai,  I am a  Guyanese descendant of the Makushi Amerindian nation. Being raised by Makushi parents in the North  Rupununi, I remember my childhood experiences with my siblings. Growing up in that area was both fun and difficult at the same time, running around the savanna, fishing and farming, and riding donkeys and horses were common pastimes of every child growing up in my community. Those were the happiest times of my life. I’m proud that I know my traditional practices of the Makushi nation, including speaking the language and writing it as well. I have attended the Annai primary school and the Annai secondary school, and in 2007 I was given the chance to attended the Bina Hill Institute Youth Learning Centre. Its so sad to say I could not attend other higher learning institutions due to my family financial income, but I am happy that I have been able to gain skills in many areas and and I have been able to work with many projects through the Bina Hill Institute Research Centre and North Rupununi District Development Board which have given me the privileges to upgrade my skills and knowledge. I would say I see myself as a resource person needed in community development research.
