Caspar Verwer MSc is a forest ecologist who is currently working as a Project Officer at IUCN NL. He has over 4 years of experience in ecological research in the lowland rainforests of Malaysia, Indonesia and Bolivia. Most of the work was related to the impacts of oil palm expansion on biodiversity and carbon stocks. At IUCN Caspar is focusing on assessing the potential role of Payment for Ecosystem Services (PES) schemes in achieving sustainable exploitation/conservation of natural resources in the Guiana Shield.
