COBRA at the 13th Congress of the International Society of Ethnobiology

Concepts and methods for biocultural diversity conservation

March 15, 2012

The 13th Congress of the International Society of Ethnobiology, which will be held in Montpellier, France from 20 to 25 May 2012, has accepted our abstract for its session 43: “Assessing the effectiveness of community-based management strategies: concepts and methods for biocultural diversity conservation”.

This session brings together representatives of a consortium of 10 European and Latin America institutions, named Combioserve (See ‘Combioserve kicks off‘), which obtained a grant under a European Union FP7 Environment call for proposals on ‘Community Based Management of Environmental Challenges’.  Based on the papers that the different representatives will have presented, concepts and methods for exploring the effectiveness of community conservation will be discussed and external commentators from the ICCA Consortium (Indigenous and Community Conserved Areas) will provide their perspectives on the pre-circulated position papers.
