Best Practice: A strategy for Flexibility

The orientor Flexibility relates to the ability of a community to have a range of options in an environment where there is a high variety. In the North Rupununi, although some families are becoming increasingly dependent on industrialised food, farm produce still plays a crucial role in the diet of communities and the vast majority of the North Rupununi population still rely on farming by applying highly flexible strategies. In addition, the staple cassava (Manihot esculenta) plays an integral role not only for nutrition, but also in local culture and tradition.
