Best Practice: A strategy for resistance

The orientor Resistance relates to the ability to withstand temporary changes by remaining the same. Transmitting traditional culture is a crucial practice for Resistance because it ensures a strong cultural identity and a sense of community which are at the basis of the North Rupununi social-ecological system. In addition the legitimacy and future of the North Rupununi Indigenous association (the North Rupununi District Development Board) depends on a strong cultural identity in order to advocate for Indigenous rights and participation in environmental management and governance.
